Jay Shanker, M.Psy., C.Psych.Assoc.

Jay is registered with the College of Psychologists of
Ontario as a Psychological Associate providing
individual psychotherapy for adults.
Jay obtained an undergraduate degree in Psychology (B.A.
with Honours) from York University in 2011 and a
Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology (M.Psy) from the
Adler School of Graduate Studies in 2015.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Jay has clinical training and experience with adults and
groups in hospital and private clinic settings. He is
trained in a range of clinical issues including
depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal
relationships, workplace stress and chronic pain. His
work and life experiences inform his understanding of
the many challenges that arise in different stages of
life.
APPROACH
Jay is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches
including cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic,
interpersonal, and dialectical behavioural therapy, to
help his clients identify and work through maladaptive
patterns that can affect relationships, block goals, and
lead to negative emotional states such as depression and
anxiety. His non-judgmental, compassionate, and sincere
style facilitates the therapeutic process and helps
clients identify personal goals and generate strategies
toward positive change.
Jay is trained in a
variety of assessment tests and measures.
ABOUT
Outside of clinical practice Jay enjoys spending
time with family and friends, and is an avid traveller.
